An assemblage light sculpture, created on commission, with the request to incorporate some German made items, as this piece was a gift for their husband, who was born in Germany. The name 'Johann' was inspired by one of the greatest composers of the Baroque period, the German born Johann Sebastian Bach, who's compositions include the Brandenburg Concertos, the Mass in B minor, and The Well-Tempered Clavier.

Assembling this character using vintage children's musical instruments, I imagined Bach as a child, learning his musical talents as a 'one man band' performer, playing his different instruments simultaneously using his hands, feet, limbs, and various mechanical contraptions.

Though these assemblage sculptures contain vintage doll components that may have once been played with by children, this piece is not a toy to be played with.

As with all bulbs, they get hot! I use low 15 wattage bulbs on each piece but the bulbs still shed heat, so be advised to display your piece in a suitable location.
